248 homes, one shoreline, and a shared way of doing things.
Lakeshore Commons has been a neighborhood since 1998. Here's how it came together, how it's governed, and what a year here actually looks like.
Built around the water, not beside it.
The original plan set aside a third of the property as common land before a single home was framed. Twenty-eight years later that decision is still the reason the lakefront belongs to everyone who lives here.
Homes at Lakeshore Commons range from two-bedroom townhomes near the north gate to detached houses along the water. What they share is the land between them: the trails, the park, the dock, the clubhouse lawn, and roughly a kilometer of protected shoreline that no one owns privately.
